Playing at The Bedford this evening was the talented Moya. After having heard her material and also seeing her live I was relishing the prospect of attending another live performance. Debut album Lost and Found is simply amazing plus she has also released two Eps one of them featured her spine tingling take on I’m Losing More Than I’ll Ever Have.
She took the stage around 9.50 to deliver what was an incredible short but sweet set. The song that opened she with was the 2nd single taken from the new album and this being Lost and Found. This tune oozed energy and it was a beautiful song albeit slightly sinister. “Hello everybody. I’m Moya and I’m here to sing some songs” Moya then said introducing herself the intimate audience. Telling Tales was her first single and it displayed her ability to write well crafted songs. It was co-written with producer David Blair- Oliphant, this tune was about following your own path. Technicolour followed on and this was delivered perfectly. I could pick up on a soulful vibe which was incredibly beautiful. Technicolour w as sung at a steady pace and the vocals were extremely gentle. “I’m going to lighten the mood slightly. This is called Lightning and it’s about an ex. This is girl power at its best I guess” Moys then said before they all launched into Lightning. Its melody and lyrics geld together perfectly. The vocals were strong and Moya put plenty of energy into this tune. It was then onto A Little More Love and this was the first outing of this song. This is also the forthcoming single and it has just hit YouTube. It does not feature on the album Lost and Found and A Little More Love is a right cracker. Vocals were spot on and the harmonies were tight. With this being the first time performed live it was flawlessly delivered. “We’re going to slow it right down” Moya then said before getting stuck into something rather amazing. This being her own take on the Primal Scream song I’m Losing More Than I’ll Ever Have. She put her stamp of originality on this breathtaking song. It actually sent shivers up my spine. This was a ballad and the vocals were gentle and fragile. There was actually a dash of emotion. What followed after was Making Me Fall. This was a slice of pop perfection with brilliant written verses and a delectable chorus. “This has gone far to quickly” Moya then told the intimate audience before singing the last song of the evening. The song she signed of with was Lust. I found this song to be rather soulful and Moya’s vocals complimented the melody.

OVERALL: I really enjoyed this evening as I spent it witnessing an amazing artist live. Each track performed was true perfection which showed Moya is an incredible singer/ songwriter. As for the Primal Scream cover it left me speechless.
