Ones To Watch: Rachel Furner

2011 is set to be the year of the stripe.

18 year old Rachel Furner came to my attention last year (she even took part in the Ten Questions With feature on this blog). Furner is a rising star whom is already signed to Mercury/ Universal Record. She is already raising her profile after supporting Pixie Lott and playing at festivals such as T In The Park, Oxygen, Glastonbury, Lattitude, V and Bestival this year. The headline tour is incoming and from what I have heard from myspace and even hearing her live when I saw her support Pixie Lott at the iTunes festival I know this tour will be a complete cracker.
The style of music Furner sings is pop music and the songs are completely astouding. Sticks and Stones is defenitely a song to listen to. From listening to the lyrics it feels slightly personal and people who are being bullied can relate to the words “Sticks and stones may break my bones, But the words will always hurt me”.  Unravel is also another song that is a must listen too. I could literally name every single song by Rachel as each one is fantastic.
The debut album is finished and I will most certainly be purchasing it on the day of release.  The EP from the set Rachel played at the iTunes Festival is available on the iTunes store. Also the debut EP will be released soon
